There is a desert in Mount Athos, Greece, full of spiritual flowers growing between the sunburnt rocks, orthodox monks silent and still, yet filled with the holy Spirit. The flowers of the greek desert are full of ancient hymns within their hearts whispering wisdom when the wind blows from the east or the west. It doesn't matter which direction the wind blows because they know inside that the strength of their roots is, as always has been, due to Jesus Christ who rose from the dead only to give hope to everyone of us who wants to be saved. They know that the legacy starting from the first Apostles of Christ to the first christian communities and the holy Fathers of Orthodoxy is a continuous ever growing chain of grace and holiness reaching to the current saints living and breathing among us until today. I am so very blessed to be a child of Greece and of Orthodoxy and I thank God each and everyday for that until my dying breath.
